Cat Behaviour Problems - How to Deal With Excessive Meowing

A cat meows when he is hungry, when he smells something, and when he wants your attention. This behaviour is normal, but it can be very annoying when a cat doesn't stop meowing.

Some causes of excessive meowing:

Cat

a. Cat has a medical problem.

b. Cat is feeling stressed and bored. These are some factors that can make cat stressed: a sudden change around your cat such as if you move to another house or you raise a new pet.

c. Emotional problem such as if he loses his owner, he is jealous to another cat or if he has to share his owner, his food and his toys with other pets.

d. Cat gets less attention from his owner.

e. Cat is losing his hearing. It usually affects old cats. Since he can't hear his voice clearly, he will try increasing the volume of his voice.

How to deal with excessive meowing:

a. Ignore cats when he doesn't want to stop meowing and give him reward when he is quiet. This is one of the best training to stop this bad behaviour problem.

b. Set up a playtime with your cat. You can use toys or home made items such as balls, strings and catnip items to play with him.

c. Give him more attention. A cat will be bored when he doesn't get enough attention.

d. Do not ever punish or shout your cat.

e. Be patient, it needs time to change this bad behaviour problem.

Cats Aggressive Behaviour

How to control aggression of cats:

It is uncommon to hear that one or the other cat was tossed out of the house of the owner due to its aggressive behaviour. Cats behave aggressively due to some or the other reasons. Cats never do anything without reason. These scratching and biting are quite unwelcome. Cats generally behave in a very predictable way, so there has to be a reason for this unusual behaviour shown by them. There are two kinds of biting and scratching behaviours in cats and unfortunately both are shown due to human failings.

SPAY A CAT

Aggression is generally seen more in between cats rather than towards humans. You might be surprised to see two cats buddies at one time and in a tooth-and-claw fight the next very moment. Aggression in between cats can be of several forms as well. Sometimes it is just playful while at the other time the cat may be aggressive in some kind of urge or pain.

Playful Aggression in between cats

Also termed as playful fighting, this very form of aggression starts at a very early age. The kittens play among themselves or between other household kittens and learn the art of fighting, stalking, killing the prey, investigating. Cats have a natural instinct of survival n these lessons on predator-prey relations are necessary for the new ones to survive. This playful fighting is usually harmless. It may often look aggressive to us but kittens keep on giving signals to others that it is playful. The often corrects the others if the one takes a wrong move.

Sexual Aggression

Sexual aggression is largely seen among cats even among those who are neutered. The aggression can be easily identified. The aggressor attacks the other cat by biting on the nape of their neck. This kind of aggression can be shown either from a male to a female or from a female to a male cat.

Territorial Aggression

Territorial Aggression can be in between male-male, male-female or female-female cats. They show their aggression by passing urine. This can result in a big battle ending up with a social hierarchy.
Stopping the cats fight is often a headache for the owners. Still there are few ways you can follow to stop the aggressive behaviour of your cat:

1. You can expose her to other animals, people and surroundings. Can generally get aggressive when they do not get proper attention in their childhood. You can provide your cat different toys and spend a little time with them playing.

2. Do not pat the back of your cat or assure them when they show aggressive behaviour towards other cats. They take it as a reward. Try to stop them and make them indulge in some different activity.

3. Leave your cat alone in a room when she starts showing signs of aggression, rubbing their paws or bending their ears down. Leave them alone for a little time. Do not try to interact with your cat at that time.

4. A little medication may also help in curbing the cat's aggressive behaviour towards other cats. You may contact your veterinarian in that case.

Strange Cat Behaviour

If you are currently experiencing strange cat behaviour then I think I might be able to help you out. A while back now my cats just started acting all nervous and fidgety and I wondered why. I had to find out because it was unfair on them if it was something I had been doing. Here are some of my top tips on strange cat behaviour.

cataclysm

Has Anything Changed? - Do you think that anything major or even small has changed to the cat recently in terms of the territory in which it lives. Animals like cats are very territorial and love a consistent and stable environment. Maybe you have moved their basket or changed their feeding time or moved furniture. All of these things can unnerve a cat and make them change behaviour, they are very sensitive. Try moving everything back to its original place and see if anything changes in 2 weeks.

Stress In The House - You have to be totally honest with yourself here. Have things bee stressful around the home recently? Cats can pick up on a humans stress and they are nearly always watching you if they are not sleeping. Maybe something has to be done in that area. I do not mean to patronize you because I know nothing about your life but it has been shown to be a problem.

Just Wild? - There is a high possibility that the animals are just being their wild natural selves. This means that they are just going to have to be trained by pain and pleasure ti give the behaviours you want if they are going to live in your house.

For example. You would use the pain part to scare or shock the cats if they act bad like biting scratching. I shock them by banging some pots near their head or otherwise making a loud noise and spraying water onto them with a bottle I have nearby. It works a charm and they stop after a while but you have to remember the other side of the equation.

You have to use pleasure with your cats. What do they absolutely love more than most? Maybe it is a new toy or just something as simple as a stroke? Bond with your cats in the coming two weeks. If you make time to stroke them for 30 minutes daily they will behave so much better for you. Maybe 30 minutes is too much for you but it is worth the furniture being saved from scratches and constant meowing.
