Believe it or not, there are ways that you can communicate with your cat using the same signals that the cat would use to talk to you. By observing cats behavior and paying close attention to how they communicate with you, it isn't too hard to pick up a few things. Here's one that I have learned from my cats over the years.

Have you ever noticed your cat looking at you with his eyes narrowed, almost squinting? That's his way of "flirting" with you! Or maybe he looks at you and slowly closes his eyes, then just as slowly opens them again? That's your cat's way of saying "I Love You". You can send him the same message, the same way. First, look at your cat directly in the eyes, but be careful not to stare, let your eyes go a little unfocused.

Slowly close your eyes, while continuing to gaze at him, then as soon as your eyes are shut, slowly open them again. Be sure you don't shut your eyes tightly, or keep them closed. Just use a very slow, soft close and then open, as if you were blinking in slow motion. Send him the thought "I Love You" at the same time to reinforce the message.

Won't your cat be surprised? It is likely that she will return the same gesture to you right away, my cat often does! It's a very simple and charming bit of cats behavior to learn. 7. It is not helpful to put a bell on a feral cat, or abandoned affectionate pet. They need to eat, and they may help with the rabbit and rodent population more than is realized.

This virus is the feline equivalent of the human AIDS as it's a disease that affects the immune system, but unlike in humans FIV is not contracted through sexual activity but saliva.

In the UK the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus is not vaccinated against like it is in the US. It's important that if you spot these symptoms in your cat you take them to the vet and have them tested so if the results are positive treatment can begin as soon as possible.

If you suspect that your kitty may have contracted this disease then it's important to get them booked into the vets as tested as soon as possible because while there isn't a cure it's much better to catch it earlier than later.

By nature, cats are very clean creatures, and would prefer to have one special place to go to the bathroom. Therefore, even though your little guy (or girl) may "do his business" in indiscriminate locations throughout your house when you first get him, it's very easy to train a kitten how to use a box if he does not know how to do so already.

Remember that if the kitten is very tiny (less than six weeks old) and/or has been orphaned, then it may not have had a mother to show it how to use litter properly. It's very easy to show him how, though. First, get a box or container with low enough sides that even a very tiny kitten can climb in. One of the best containers to use is an old dishpan with one side cut out so that it's only a couple of inches high. This is low enough that even the tiniest of kittens can climb in easily.

The box must be easy to get into for your kitten to be able to use it. Immediately after you've set up the pan, put just a small amount of litter (no more than half an inch or so) on the bottom and put your cat in. Instinctively, even tiny kittens will usually like to scratch around even if they don't exactly know what it's used for.

Step # 3: Scratching & Spraying.

If your cat does not have at least one scratching post, get one or two. This should solve most of the inappropriate scratching problems. Ideally, each cat in the household should have his own scratching post, and it should be in a place he can easily find it.

If you have a scratching post, examine it. Is it worn or all scratched out? If so, it is time for a new post. If the post is new and your cat does not want to use it, rub some catnip along the sides and top.

This will attract him to the post, and he will associate the pleasant scent of catnip with scratching. You also can dangle toys off the top of the post or place treats at the top. The more appealing the scratching post is, the more your cat will use it.

If you catch him scratching something he should not, correct him with a loud "No" and clap your hands. This will startle him and he will stop what he is doing. Pick your cat up and move him to the scratching post.

Place his front paws on the post and make scratching movements. If he does not seem to understand, run your fingernails down the post and pretend to scratch the post yourself. Praise your cat whenever he uses the post, and give him a treat afterward. He will make the connection that when he scratches the post he gets rewarded.

To prevent your cat from scratching things when you are not home, cover the edges or corners of the furniture with plastic strips or double sided sticky tape. Pet product manufacturers sell transparent, non toxic strips or double sided tape designed to repel cats without harming them.

Declawing is not an appropriate solution for a scratching problem. Pet supply stores sell little plastic caps that fir over a cat's nails. You can also trim the tips of your cat's nails every few weeks, which will prevent him from clawing anything.

-Spraying

Both males and females spray urine to mark their territory, although the behavior is much more common in males. One way to address this is to spay or neuter the cat. Generally cats will exhibit this type of behavior when they feel their territory is threatened, such as bringing a newcomer onto the scene.

Consult with your veterinarian about possible health problems that may be causing this behavior.

You need to consider what cats will need in the wild to determine the best food sources for them. In the wild, cats will eat mice and birds, and drink water. Obviously this is a diet high in protein and it is essential that your cat gets sufficient protein to maintain a good healthy diet.

By constantly feeding your cat carbohydrates it can become insulin resistant and unable to keep its blood glucose levels at a suitable level. Depending in where you come from in the world having a black cat cross your path can either be bad luck or good luck.

If a black cat crosses your path, and you are so busy looking at the cat you do no do see the curb stone at the edge of the road, and you fall over it injuring your arm, then you are most likely to consider a black cat bad luck. On the other hand, if you have a black cat cross your path, and next to it is a ten dollar bill that some one has dropped and you pick it up, then you will consider the back cat to be good luck.

What ever your first experience was with a black cat, which will make the decision as to whether the black cat is good or bad luck for you.

Pure black cats are actually quite a rare thing. Often they will have little specks of other colors in their coats or on their paws. And very often if there a pure back cat has been bred with a tabby cat at some time in the cats ancestor the cat will appear to be black, however when the light is right you will be able to see the tabby markings very faintly on the coat.

The true black cat is the Bombay cat, which is an Asian cat and is completely black. This cat originates from Burmese cats and has a pure black coat, paws and nose with copper and green eyes. The Bombay black cat of Asian origin should not be confused with the American cat of the same name, which is a newer breed of cat originating in 1958.

So are black cats good or bad luck? They could be either. Next time you see a black cat, make sure you are alert so nothing bad will happen and perhaps something good will instead!

Volunteering at a Local Animal Shelter

Let's face it- we have millions too many animals in our world today, largely due to the fact that many people either refuse or are unable to spay or neuter their pets. To help combat the pet overpopulation problem, we have animal shelters.

However, most animal shelters are critically understaffed and underfunded. Volunteers of any kind are always needed!

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO SPAY A CAT

If you choose to spend some of your time volunteering* in any way for a local animal shelter, here are some things you can do which will greatly help the shelter.

*You should contact the shelter of your choice to determine what their specific needs are as all shelters differ in their choice of cleaning supplies, food, vet care and the like.

SUPPLIES:

Of course, first and foremost, are monetary donations, no matter how small. The money goes towards food, much needed vet care, electricity for the shelter, any shelter employees salaries, possible needed advertising, upkeep of the shelter... and the list goes on. Every dollar is very well spent and greatly appreciated.

Cleaning supplies. This includes paper towels, bleach, laundry soap, dish soap, sponges, disinfectant, mops, brooms.

Old towels, toys, old clothes, blankets, shampoo, newspapers, dog and cat houses, batteries of any size.

Dry food. Most shelters use dry dog and cat food, however, either will be greatly appreciated.

THINGS YOU CAN DO:

Show up at a shelter one day and ask to be put to work. You can wash dishes, clean the stalls, foster pets, walk the dogs, groom the pets, and possibly assist with adoptions and pet therapy.

If you are going to be doing the cleaning, prepare to get dirty. Stalls must be cleaned daily. Dishes are usually washed with bleach, so ensure you wear old clothes. All towels, blankets, etc must be laundered daily. Litter boxes must be cleaned daily. The outside kennels must be cleaned daily. The indoor dogs must be walked daily.

Remember- people do these jobs every day, Monday through Sunday, and it's a very tiring job. Help for even a few hours one day is extremely welcomed.

It's an established fact that those who help others- even if that other is not of the human variety- feel better about themselves. Giving releases a feel good chemical in our brains which induces a feeling of well being and we all could use a dose of that!

The animals, and volunteers will thank you for it and you will feel great knowing you did your part in helping those who cannot help themselves.

So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and give a little today! The rewards are tremendous.

The American Pet Products Association estimates that Americans will spend .4 billion this year on their pets - despite the dramatic slowdown in discretionary spending.

All well and good for those animals fortunate enough to grace the homes of these loving and well-intentioned owners who would rather cut down on their own spending needs than sacrifice the needs of their animals. Bravo!

But! We also hear from the dog rescue centers that they are being overwhelmed with abandoned animals and dogs, in particular who are being "forced out" or left tied to the gates of shelters with a note "I cannot feed my kids anymore, please look after my dog?"

Foreclosures spell disaster for thousands of pet dogs as home owners cannot keep up mortgage repayments, this is the grim reality for thousands of animals as recession looms, and foreclosure hits families right across America and Europe. Desperate times and desperate measures with everyone as a casualty, especially mans best friend.

The majority of pet owners love their animals, and would never do anything to harm them but unfortunately, many people are faced with a terrible dilemma, they have lost their job and now they face losing their home, which means they may have few alternatives, protect their family or protect their pets!  They may be forced to accept accommodation that does not allow animals and if they refuse that accommodation, then their family could be at risk. Most pet owners will move heaven and earth but they may have just run out of options. The animal rescue centers are full to brimming and this could end up with them abandoning their dogs or cats to fend for themselves.

This economic crisis is forcing ordinary, decent people to do things they would previously have never considered and this is truly heartbreaking. Not only have they lost their job, their home but they are now faced with losing everything so, perhaps some of the incompetent banks who caused this global economic crisis in the first place, should now help to fund additional animal rescue centers so that they can house all these newly made homeless dogs and cats. After all, they managed to get themselves a nice rescue package from the government didn't they! They will still be getting their big fat pay checks every month, courtesy of us all, the general public, won't they?

Cat Grass - Good Or Bad?

So many shops, garden centers and internet sites are now selling 'cat grass' for your kitty to nibble on... but is it good for them?

I guess the question really boils down to why cats do it.

Basically, no one is sure. Vets, cat experts, breeders and owners all have various opinions about why cats eat grass. Dogs eat grass if their tummies are giving them problems so maybe cats do the same. Maybe they need extra fibre in their diet, or they have some fur they've swallowed they want to bring up or maybe even they feel deficient in some vitamins.

But, really no one knows except kitty herself. We do know that lions and tigers in the wild eat grass, so it's not just a domestic kitty question. (And as lions and tigers don't really suffer from the furball issue I guess we can rule out that reason). Cats that have access to outside areas probably eat grass all the time (although there are some cats that don't seem to feel the inclination).

Is there any harm in it? Probably not in eating the kitty grass itself. But, if your furry friend likes to eat your house plants then there could be a problem. Many household plants are poisonous to cats... some extremely so, like lilies... just the pollen is enough to end your fur-baby's life.

So, I think my advice would be to invest in a couple of pots of cat grass and dot them around your home, just so your cat can eat them if she wants to, and thereby avoiding anything toxic, or priceless!

A Brief History of the Cat

The appearance of the first domesticated dog is a subject that is still being discussed and debated in the halls of academia, and in the living room of dog owners everywhere. While we're still trying to work out Fido's and Fifi's origins, we seem to know exactly when and where our love affair with the cat began. The first feline wandered into human civilization more than 7,000 years ago, long after the first cities had been established. The African wildcat, forefather of all the cats alive today, was a welcome guest, since it hunted and exterminated the rodents that competed with humans for the supplies of stored grain in the communities. But, the greatest influence on our long and somewhat ambivalent relationship with the cat was the ancient Egyptians.

Venerated and Vilified
In ancient Egypt, the old joke about felines thinking they are better than humans was taken seriously. Cats were so highly regarded that several members of the religious pantheon shared attributes with the animals. The goddess Bastet was often shown in art and statuary as a cat, or having the body of a woman and the head of a cat. Similarly, the goddess Sekhmet, protector of the pharaoh, was shown as a woman with a lion's head. Laws carefully regulated taking cats out of the country, and the death of a cat was mourned with as much ceremony as that of a human family member. A number of mummified cat bodies have been discovered throughout Egypt, showing the great reverence held for the animals.

In addition to being worshiped, many cats were also being traded to nations living around Egypt. The first short-haired cats made their appearance in Italy more than 2,000 years ago, and gradually spread across the European continent until they landed in England around 1,900 years ago. Wherever they travelled, people welcomed the cat's arrival as both a companion and a pest controller.

Unfortunately, dark days were in store for the felines. Their troubles started when religious leaders began to associate the animals with witches and the practice of witchcraft during the Middle Ages. The idea of guilt by association led to innumerable cats being killed. Ironically, in their quest to eliminate evil, people were actually destroying their own allies; by preying on rats, the felines were instrumental in helping to reduce the impact of the Black Plague on Europe. The cat's fortunes were reversed as the Renaissance began, bringing with it enlightenment to many areas of life and learning. Once again, cats were seen as objects of affection and a benefit to humanity. When settlers set out to colonize the New World, they took their cats along with them.

Companionable Cats
With the development of a middle class, the role of cats in the home, as well as society in general, saw a change. Now that they were no longer needed as a form of pest control, it was company and companionship that humans looked for from the cat. They filled their new role admirably; so well, in fact, that over the last decade, they have taken the dog's place as the most common animal comrade. But, because the evolution of our relationship with the cat took place without the need of a human participant, our overall attitude towards the animal remains uncertain. According to recent studies, many people still have the impression that cats can manage on their own and need only minimal attention from their owners. It is believed that this misguided attitude is the reason that many cats do not receive sufficient medical care, or proper identification tags or chips. Experts say that this has led to a dramatic increase in the number of stray and feral cats.

Like our more needy furry friend, the dog, the cat became a part of the lives of humans because of the work it was able to do for us. It is still on the job, although these days, a cat is more likely to capture your heart and imagination instead of a mouse or rat. Throughout the years, the relationship between people and cats has been both beneficial and detrimental to the animals. Still, countless people still seem willing to follow the advice of an ancient Irish proverb, cautioning us to be wary of those who don't like a cat.

Why Is My Cat Spraying All Over My House?

Your cat holds it tail high, most often from a standing position, and lets fly its most pungent substance. If your cat sprays, you'll find the evidence about a foot or so above the floor depending on how tall your cat is.

You may ask, "Why does my cat ruin my house?"

The answer is simple: Because your house is your cat's house.

Cats spray for one reason and one reason only-to mark their territory. Human beings aren't much different. We set boundaries on land to establish who owns what-only, for the most part anyway, we don't use piss as markers. Cats do, however, and they have done this for thousands of years so it's going to be an uphill battle to get yours to stop. But you are not helpless in your quest. Here are some things you can try.

1. Get your cat spayed or neutered

Both male and female cats spray, although males are most often blamed. Spraying is greatly reduced by getting your pet spayed or neutered. Un-spayed females will spray when they are in heat and looking for Mr. Right Now. Spaying greatly reduces this behavior in female cats.

Neutering male cats is almost as effective. Animal experts claim that neutering male cats eliminates spraying in 90% of studied cases. Those are pretty good odds. But don't dismay if your cat is among the 10% who continue to spray. There are more options.

2. Help your cat protect its territory

Since its 100% natural for a cat to mark its territory, the less threatened your cat feels the less marking will occur. Work with your cat's instincts rather than against them.

If you have only one cat, then the threat may be present outside your home. Check to see if stray cats or other animals that might be competing for territory near your house. If you let your cat outside, the scents of other animals are certain to be present. Spraying outside probably doesn't bother you, but your cat may spray inside your house just to make sure that everyone knows this is your cat's territory.

If you have multiple cats in your household who may compete for territory, then it will be a little more challenging for you to play the referee. One way to lessen tension between opponents is to clearly identify the territorial boundaries.

Too many cats live at my house (I will be the first to admit this) because a friend, my mom and I decided to move in together. We are all cat lovers so we combined three households of cats.

Cats die off but somehow we get new ones. Our cat population averages around 8 cats at any time. Needless to say, cat marking can be a real problem for us. We humans are clear about which cats belong where, and we do what we can to facilitate these territories.

Tru and Kate rule Carolyn's room. Sassy stays with my mom. Socrates roams the halls and can be found most often in my daughter's room. And I, alas, have Little Kitty, Sonny, Simone and Sierra in my bedroom. Sierra (female) and Sonny (male) are dominant cats. Both spray from time to time, but by working with our cats' needs rather than against them helps diminish the spraying considerably.

One way to strengthen a cat's sense of ownership is to provide each cat with its own litter box placed well within each cat's territory. This also helps to diminish urinating outside the litter boxes-more a sign of stress than dominance. The goal is to let our cats know they are loved by lavishing them with affection, and to decrease threats to their territory.

3. Never Punish Cats!

Yelling at or hitting your cats is not only mean, it will backfire on you. When you increase your cat's stress level, they will lift their tails more often, not less. While dogs associate their owners' displeasure with their own behavior, cats make no similar connection. If you holler or try to smack them, they assume you are the crazy one, not them. Cats, as you probably know, have never been fully domesticated. They merely give us the pleasure of meeting their needs and letting us stay in their homes.

Help My Cat Has Cancer

It was sheer anguish and fear; my only thought was help my cat has cancer. This wasn't my first time to experience cancer in pets and have the heartbreak of experiencing the loss of life to one of my "babies"; even writing this article now is the cause of fresh burning tears. Months later, I had found Kim's Princess Raggedy Ann, a registered Ragamuffin, in California that I purchased and had flown in to be my "Annie."

Annie, a beautiful seal tortoiseshell had given birth to several "purr babies" which was the reason I had wait to spay her. Once I discovered my inability to sell her babies, I had stopped allowing her to breed, but only 10 years after I had found her I discovered "the lump". Cat tumors in this case feline breast cancer appears in 1 out of 4,000 cats. A correlation between early spaying and feline breast cancer has been found. I had been diligent in my protection of Annie from the feline leukemia virus, but contributed or negligently through my ignorance allowed her to develop feline breast cancer.

Is Your Cat Pregnant or Just Fat? 5 Signs Your Cat Might Be Pregnant, and What to Do Next

Are you thinking your cat may be pregnant, but you're just not quite sure?

Whether you are a first time cat breeder or have somehow acquired an unspayed female feline, here is some helpful information for finding out whether your cat really is expecting or just getting pudgy!

First, carefully observe and assess your cat's physical and/or personality changes.

Second, notice whether your cat's heat cycle has stopped. Cats usually have heat cycles that occur every ten days to two weeks. If this stops, the likelihood of your cat being pregnant is very high.

Third, another sign is called "pinking" or when your cat's nipples become swollen and change in to a rosy color. Increased appetite, abdominal enlargement and possible vomiting are also signs to be watch out for.

Fourth, your cat may show increased affection and nesting for a period of time, wherein the cat prepares for the arrival of the kittens by seeking a quiet and peaceful habitat which will be a suitable area for giving birth to her kittens.

Five, if you still have your suspicions but aren't sure, the next step is to visit your vet. Your vet will carefully examine your cat by palpating your cat's abdomen. Your vet will be able to feel fetuses during the 17th-20th day of pregnancy.

Your vet can also do an ultrasound of your cat's abdomen. An ultrasound can detect the fetuses as early as 2 weeks from conception. The heartbeats may be heard as early as 3 weeks. Remember that your pregnant cat's nutritional needs will be different. Please consult your vet for any vitamin and/or nutritional supplementation. If your cat IS pregnant, you may wonder how long it will be before the Happy Event. The gestation period for cats is 58 to 65 days, or about 9 weeks.

So do the math and determine how to best meet the changes coming for your household, not just for your feline friend. This is a crucial time to communicate with your cat directly about how they are feeling, what they most need during this important and exciting time, and how you can best support them during their pregnancy.

For instance, talking to your cat about their vet visits will minimize stress on the mom. Car Maintenance Costs - The Real Story...

If you walked into your local car dealer and requested a 30,000-mile maintenance service, is it safe to assume that the dealer will follow manufacturer guidelines when servicing your car? Should the dealer "only" follow manufacturer guidelines? Can they bend the guidelines...?

Here's a recent and very common scenario that occurred at a local Toyota dealership....

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO SPAY A CAT

A service customer called the dealer to schedule the manufacturer's recommended 30,000-mile service for his 2005 4-Cylinder Camry. However, the dealer added several services NOT included in the guidelines.

The additional services included a coolant flush (drain and refill), automatic transmission service (drain and refill), and a power steering fluid change.

According to the manufacturer, the coolant does not need to be replaced until 100,000 miles. The automatic transmission fluid can last until 120,000 miles. And there is no specific maintenance interval for the power steering fluid.

Now, before we throw the dealer under the bus, which, don't get me wrong, is always a blast to do, is there any legitimacy in recommending these extra services? Are there any circumstances where one may want to consider performing a coolant or transmission service 70,000 to 90,000 miles sooner than recommended by the manufacturer of the car? If we assume that we're not driving the vehicle beyond its limits, such as racing, off-road, or a high-speed police chase, the answer is no - not in this case.

There are times, however, when it is ok to venture outside manufacturer guidelines. The conditions include, but are not limited to: maintenance neglect, abuse, vehicle age, poor manufacturer design, and poor quality of fuel.

While each of the exceptions above are fun to explore, we should highlight fuel quality concerns. Poor gas quality often leads to carbon build up, which can be remedied by a professional fuel injection service. Aside from this fuel cleaning service (which no manufacturer recommends during regular maintenance), there is no service outside of the manufacturer guidelines that offers any real or lasting benefit.

So how can a dealer recommend services outside of the guidelines set by the manufacturer of the product that they sell and service?

The answer is that car dealerships (the majority anyway) are independent of the manufacturer. In other words, they're not bound to adhere to set guidelines. In fact, many dealers create there own maintenance schedules. This creative practice is increasing as manufacturers continue to extend maintenance services, stripping dealers of there usual high and comfortable profit margins.

Interestingly, in terms of service, a manufacturer and a dealer are in opposition of one another. Manufacturer's set vehicle maintenance schedules to keep vehicles maintained according to their standards; however, one of those standards is "low cost." Low maintenance costs net a positive image to the manufacturer. The service center in a dealership on the other hand, wants cars to be as "high cost" as possible to maintain.

Despite all this, there is another possibility worth exploring in this dealer versus manufacturer scenario. Given that the client called the dealer it's likely that he spoke with an untrained and under-qualified customer service representative. The representative may have misled the client, providing outdated maintenance recommendations, as the older Toyota's did in fact require the coolant and transmission services mentioned above.

In larger dealerships, telephones are usually answered by Call Centers. This is a group of people who know little about cars, but are generally pleasant on the phone. Call Center representatives are famous for providing misinformation and miss-reading a detailed automotive service menu, such as a 30,000-mile service on a 2005 4-Cylinder Camry. In other words, one of these representatives may have listed services which are NOT actually part of the service. This happens every day! Few notice...who actually remembers anything after: the service includes and oil and filter change, check fluids, belts, hoses, replace the air filter, set tire pressures....blah, blah, blah...

The owner of the Camry was quoted 0 - which - if the dealer was actually going to perform all that it stated, and the car actually needed it - would actually be a good deal.

How to Keep Cats Out of Your Garden

If you are having a problem with stray cats in your garden, there are a few tricks you can use to keep them out. First off, try to make sure there are no gaps in your fence where a cat can squeeze through. However, as cats can jump or climb fences or trees next to a fence, just plugging the gaps won't necessarily stop them. You could also invest in string or taut wire across the top. Someone in Australia has developed a roller bar to place on top of fences. As the cat jumps onto it, it rolls and the cat loses its balance. Doing this a few times will discourage all but the most determined cat from trying again.

It is a well-known fact that cats don't like water. There are a few ways you can put this to good use. You could try using a water pistol or spray bottle if you are close by, or you could try turning the hose on them. Most local hardware stores sell motion activated sprinklers. This is a little more expensive, but it doesn't require you to actually be in your yard with the cats. These sprinklers will detect the cat's movement and automatically turn on. It shouldn't take long before the strays get the message. An added advantage of using motion activated sprinklers is that your garden is automatically watered for you. However, this could end up costing you in excess water bills and use up a precious resource.

There are also many devices available that send out high frequency sounds undetectable by human ears. These are designed to deter animals (cats, dogs, mice, rats etc) from coming within range. Protecting your plants is a different story though there are some tricks that you can use.

Try sprinkling mothballs around your plants or borders. You can even sprinkle some along the fence or on your lawn. Cats don't like that smell. Just make sure than no young children could pick them up and eat them. There are many other repellents that you can use as well such as cayenne pepper, tabasco sauce, lavender oil, citronella oil, mustard oil, and even lemon grass oil. Why not try sprinkling some curry or mustard powder around the plants. Of course you need to replace this after watering or rain. Experiment and see what works best for you.

You can also use commercial repellents as well though these will be more expensive than what you can find in your pantry. Commercial repellents also use scents to keep cats away, and shouldn't be used near any food crops because of their high chemical content. You can probably find several varieties at your local department store. Many of these will fend off other animals from your garden as well. Please, if you are using chemical repellants, make sure young children won't be exposed to them or possibly eat them. All chemical products can be lethal for young children. Try to find natural repellants in your hardware store.

If you have a garden, it can be very frustrating if the neighborhood cats and other animals decide to make your garden their home and fight with your own cat. Remember it will take some time to train these intruders to stay away. But if you stick with it, you can prevent them from hassling your cat or messing in your garden or crops.

Sometimes your cat will think that you're playing with them if you chase or physically punish them. You need to make it clear that what you are doing is actually a punishment and not fun. It needs to be easy to understand for your cat. If you fail at this, you will not teach your cat anything. Your pet will think that this is what they supposed to do to get attention and have some fun.

If you can't get your cat to stop doing something, it may be that they love doing it and this is the only reason for the behavior. To deal with this, you need to know that there are also things that your cat hates. For example, certain smells are distasteful to cats. If you spray something they don't like on the thing they like to destroy, you will easily get them to stay away from it.
