It's always a worrying time. And why won't your cat eat? What is the reason behind this? There may be a multitude of reasons, but some of the most common ones are obvious when you know what you're looking for.
Here's a guide to help you understand the possible problems.
Cat
1 Eating takes an enormous amount of energy. When your cat is going through a time of acute healing, whether physical or emotional, all their energy is needed to cure the current problem. All well fed cats can manage without food, or with little food, for a couple of weeks without coming to any real harm. So a few days certainly won't harm them.
In fact, in the wild, when they don't make a kill, they can go without food regularly. So a cat's digestion is better at coping with infrequent meals than frequent ones.
2 Feeding your cat one of the typical commercial cat foods will mean that she has a heavy toxic burden, as they all contain chemicals to preserve, to colour, to stimulate appetite, to address the shortfall in nutrients, etc. So your cat may choose to unload her burden periodically, by fasting. This is in your cats best interests and should not be interferred with.
3 As long as there are no other signs, such as vomiting, diarrhoea, discomfort, calling, etc, then you can feel comfortable not reacting immediately. However, if this happens periodically, then your cat is clearly trying to tell you something. So it's up to you to try to make sense of this. You may find that by simply changing your cat's diet to a natural one, one of quality raw meat and home, all home prepared with love. totally restores your cat's eating patterns.
4 Using an effective natural health care system, such as homeopathy, is more likely to bring about a permanent change, than increasing her toxic burden still further with veterinary medication. Homeopathy is a powerful but gentle modality of health care. It's deep and lasting effects have to be experienced to be believed. It covers every ailment a cat can suffer from, from fever to degenerative disease, from injury to bullying and everything in between.
